Goals of the Norooz Spring Festival - San Jose 2004
Short
Term
- Celebrate,
preserve, promote and share our beautiful culture with
our kids and others in the American Community
- Have
a fun filled event, so the younger generation will remember
it and look forward to it in years to come
- Prove
to ourselves and others that we (different Iranian groups)
can put our differences aside and work as teammates to
create a better community for ourselves
- Counter
recent bad publicity in the news media by publicizing the
fun and gracious side of the Iranian-American community
- Acknowledge
and publicize contributions of Iranian-Americans to the larger American
society
- Instill
and infuse pride into the Iranian-American Community and
be proud of our heritage
- Realize
we are not alone any more, we got each other to count on
- Provide
an affordable venue for Eid-Didany in Bay Area
Long
Term Goals
- Bring
our community together by emphasizing our commonalities
rather than our differences
- Encourage
creation of contact lists (e.g. email list) for those who
want to be aware and quickly notified about issues important
to our community
- Start
a fund to purchase our own land and build an Iranian Community
Center in San Jose or in the Peninsula. Hopefully, Persian Center will
accept management of such a center.
- Become
more active in the electoral process (be registered, make
contributions and vote in elections) to gain political
muscle and clout for our community
- Since
strength is in numbers, lets show our numbers!
- Set
an example for IA communities in other parts of the US to
become active members of their community
